YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)- The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra welcomed its newest conductor Saturday evening with its performance of “Fantastique.”
Originally scheduled for Sunday, the symphony moved its concert to Saturday at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The symphony welcomed Erik Oschner, who’s been a conductor for over 30 years.
He’s excited to continue his career conducting the Youngstown Symphony. Oschner says the support from people has been encouraging.
“It’s really exciting. I’m getting a lot of nice feedback from musicians who say they’re happy to have me here. They like what I’m programming. They like what I’m doing with the symphony. I’ve received some messages on social media from fans, audience members and donors, so it’s really encouraging, so I feel like I’m getting a really big hug from the community,” said director Erik Ochsner.
